This course combines legal and office training for those interested in the legal profession.

It offers the same Business Office Technology (called “BOT” for short) hands-on training in all aspects of today’s highly skilled office occupations.  It includes certification opportunities in Microsoft® Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Windows VistaTM. (more info here).

In addition to four days of class in BOT, Paralegals meet one to two additional nights and receive additional training in core legal subjects such as:

·        The Court System (State & Federal)

·        Contracts

·        Torts

·        Civil & Criminal Law

·        Property

Additionally, students are trained in the fundamentals of legal research and writing including:

·        Westlaw & Lexis computer based research

·        Legal precedent and case law

·        Case reading and brief writing

Plus, third semester students who have successfully mastered the two prior semesters are invited to participate in an externship program where students obtain their last semesters credit hours working in a legally related office for some real world experience!

This experience very often results in job placement opportunities!
